This charming set of six sterling silver teaspoons is hallmarked London 1896 and crafted by Horace Woodward & Co Ltd, a respected silversmithing firm that traded in London under this name from 1893 until its acquisition by Adie Brothers Ltd in 1919. Presented in a fitted case lined with purple velvet and cream silk, the set retains a wonderful sense of period authenticity, complete with the box stamped "Sterling Silver, Made in England" on the interior lid.
Each spoon features the classic gadroon pattern along the handle, a decorative border of rounded, rope-like ribbing that traces back to Renaissance metalwork and remains one of the most enduring and elegant motifs in English silverware. The terminal of each handle is finished with a subtle scrolling flourish and beaded edge detail, adding a touch of Victorian refinement to an otherwise clean, structured design.
Please note that scratches and scuffs are present on the exterior of the presentation box.
