This elegant sterling silver fruit basket is hallmarked Sheffield 1909 and crafted by Thomas Bradbury & Sons, one of Sheffield's oldest silver houses, with a lineage tracing back to 1795 and among the very first firms to register a mark at the Sheffield Assay Office.

The basket takes a generous round form, rising on a raised pedestal foot and fitted with a graceful twisted swing handle, a hallmark feature of quality Edwardian presentation pieces designed for the tea or dining table. The exterior is finely chased with oval cartouches framed by flowing foliage and floral scrollwork, a decorative language typical of the Edwardian era's fondness for flowing lines and hand-worked botanical detail.

Measuring 35cm in width and 13cm in height, this is a substantial and eye-catching piece, well suited to serving fruit or bread at the table or displayed as a striking centrepiece in its own right. Its fine craftsmanship and clear maker's provenance make it a rewarding find for collectors of Edwardian silver and English silversmithing history.
