This example is exceptional. The carved shell scene, a classical figure of Hercules attended by Hebe symbolising strength perseverance and fidelity, is detailed with the skill of a miniaturist. The ornate 15ct yellow gold frame, with its fine scrollwork and decorative border, provides a setting worthy of the carving it contains.
